Sock and Component Bank
We asked that amputees that have excessive socks or components as well as prosthesis from either their physiological change, or a death in the family, be donated to the SAF. Once received by the SAF they will be evaluated for their value and a tax deductible receipt issued. Keep in mind that unless they are your personal components or you file taxes jointly with the person that it belongs to, that you will not receive any tax benefit for doing so. This is the IRS ruling not the SAF. Depending on your income, it could be more financially favorable to donate your items to the SAF than trying to sell them at a discount on sites such as eBay.
